STARLIMS
Leverages EMC Documentum
Platform to Provide Comprehensive
Scientific Content Management
STARLIMS to offer an end-to-end solution, providing LIMS, SDMS and
ELN functionalities.
Hollywood, Florida. (June 29, 2006) –
STARLIMS Corporation, a leading global provider of Laboratory
Information Management Systems (LIMS), today announced an OEM
agreement with EMC. Under the terms of the agreement, STARLIMS will
embed EMC Documentum technology to provide integrated content
management and collaboration capabilities for scientific, testing
and research-centric organizations. The resulting solution, named
the STARLIMS Content Manager, will be unique in that it will
integrate LIMS, Scientific Data Management System (SDMS) and
Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) functionalities into a single
platform.
Data in scientific research is primarily unstructured and is not
typically managed in a consistent fashion, making it difficult to
implement systematic procedures necessary to ensure regulatory and
legal compliance. By integrating the Documentum platform, STARLIMS
will have a single end-to-end platform that enables customers to
capture, manage, share and archive scientific data.
Barry Ruditsky, Vice President of Content Management Business
Development, EMC Software Group said, “EMC’s platform strategy
provides our partners content management software and enablement
services to build world-class solutions that benefit our mutual
customers. Our new relationship with STARLIMS will enable both
companies to deliver best-of-breed content management solutions to
meet the specific needs of scientific organizations.”
“We are excited about this partnership, which will enable us to
bring the gold standard in enterprise content management to
laboratory and scientific environments,” said Itschak Friedman,
President and CEO of STARLIMS Corporation. “This is a significant
step in our long-term strategy of making LIMS a pivotal part of
scientific knowledge generation and enterprise-wide collaboration.
STARLIMS Content Manager will be integrated into STARLIMS Version
10, an entirely web-based LIMS that was released in March this
year.”
“The scientific and analytical communities have made it quite clear
that the ‘silos of information’ approach is not a viable option.
They are seeking solutions that incorporate their disparate types of
data—enabling users to efficiently store and reuse data rather than
spend laborious hours alternating between different data
repositories. I am delighted to hear of this new partnership between
STARLIMS and EMC, which addresses this pressing market need,” said
Michael Elliott, founder and president of Atrium Research, the
leading scientific informatics market research firm.
As part the company’s new relationship with EMC, STARLIMS has also
joined the EMC Documentum Application Developer Program. As a
member, STARLIMS will receive specialized design consultation and
guidance, along with access to dedicated Documentum technical
resources to ensure that STARLIMS Content Manager meets the highest
quality standards.
The EMC Documentum Application Developer Program helps ISVs, VSPs
and SIs target, design, develop and go-to-market with successful
offerings based on the EMC Documentum platform. As a member,
partners can submit their offering to be considered for “Designed
for Documentum” accreditation, which ensures their offering has met
all requirements to be certified on the Documentum platform. To
