 LIMS: Directors and Officers
 Itschak Friedman, Chief Executive Officer
Itschak Friedman founded the company in 1986
and has since served as its Chief Executive Officer. His vision
for the company emerged while working in a chromatography
business unit of one of the larger instrument vendors - at a
time when LIMS were inflexible systems running on large
computers and costing millions of dollars. Itschak founded the
company to develop a PC-based alternative to these legacy
systems, and in 1989 the first PC-based LIMS was launched. Under
Itschak's leadership, STARLIMS has grown to be a truly global
company, with sales, implementation and support activities in 40
countries. Itschak holds a BSc degree in Geology from the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem and has served as the Chairman
of our board of directors since 1988.
Dinu Toiba, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Dinu Toiba has been directing the technology
development of STARLIMS since 1990. His experience ranges from
real-time software for mainframes and mini-computers, to
applications for national police and defense forces, the
automobile industry, and public utility companies. At STARLIMS,
he leads a team of hand-picked and exceptionally dedicated
programmers and system analysts. Dinu holds BSc and MSc degrees
in Mathematics both from the University of Bucharest, Romania.
Dinu has served as the Vice Chairman of
our board of directors since 1993.
Jeff
Ferguson, Chief Operating Officer
Jeff Ferguson brings to STARLIMS two decades
of LIMS expertise, and a powerful combination of leadership and
operational know-how. His responsibilities at STARLIMS include
overall management of sales, marketing, professional services
and operations. Prior to joining STARLIMS in 2003, Jeff served
as Director of Enterprise Systems at Applera Corporation –
Applied Biosystems. In this position, he was responsible for
Applied Biosystems' laboratory informatics business. Prior to
that, he held senior sales positions at PerkinElmer's
informatics business units. Jeff holds a BA in Education from
Eastern Michigan University.
Chaim
Friedman, Chief Financial Officer
Chaim Friedman has served as Chief Financial
Officer since 1989, directing the company’s financial and
business development activities. He has wide-ranging expertise,
from financial management and regulatory compliance to corporate
development and strategic planning. Chaim has served as a
consultant and director in several technology-oriented
companies. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics and Management
from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Chaim has
been a member of our board of directors since 1989.
Clive Baron, Chief Business Development Officer
Clive Baron has served as our chief business development officer since July 2007. Prior to joining our company and from July 1998, Mr. Baron served as the chief executive officer of Symmetry, a LIMS company based in South African, which subsequently was acquired by LabWare Inc. In January 2001, Mr. Baron joined LabWare Inc. as head of sales and marketing operations for North America. From 1985 to 1995, Mr. Baron founded and managed two software companies that were subsequently sold to publicly traded companies. Mr. Baron holds a B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Dr.
Simon Wood, Executive Director, Marketing and Training
Simon Wood is a leading authority in
laboratory informatics and LIMS systems. As Global Services
Manager of Thermo LabSystems, he established the industry’s
largest LIMS implementation team. Prior to joining STARLIMS in
2006, Simon was with Labformatics Ltd, a consultancy
specializing in laboratory informatics performance management
and improvement. Simon has written and presented numerous papers
on system implementation, applications support and laboratory IT
project performance measurement. Simon holds a PhD in Mycology
from Sheffield University.
Eyal
Guterman, Treasurer and Risk Management Officer
Eyal Guterman has been directing the
company’s treasury and risk management policies since 1989. Eyal
has served as a consultant and director in several
technology-oriented companies. Eyal holds a BA degree in
Economics from Ben-Gurion University and MBA degree from Bar
Ilan University. Eyal has been a member of our board of
directors since 1993.
Martin Bandel, Board Member
Martin Bandel has served as a director of our company since January 2007 and is a member of our audit committee. He also serves as a director of STARLIMS Europe Ltd. Mr. Bandel is an independent consultant and has a supervisory role at Manhattan Loft Corporation, where he served as chief financial officer from July 2000 to February 2008. From May 1993 to July 2000, Mr. Bandel served as the chief financial officer of the Cromwell Land Group at Charterhouse Plc (now part of HSBC). From January 1991 to September 1993, Mr. Bandel served as an independent strategic and financial consultant for several businesses. Mr. Bandel holds a diploma in accountancy from the City of London University and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales since 1982 and of the Chartered Institute of Tax since 1983.
Dov Kleiman, Board Member
Dov Kleiman has served as an outside director
of our company since 2004 and is the chairman of our audit
committee. Mr. Kleiman has served as the Chief Cost Accountant of the Osem/Nestle group since 1987. Mr. Kleiman holds a BA degree in Economics and MBA degree, both from Bar-Ilan University.
Eliane Markowitz, Board Member
Eliane Markowitz has served as an outside
director of our company since January 2007 and is a member of our audit committee. Ms. Markowitz has been with Medison Pharma Ltd where she serves as Marketing Manager of its diagnostic division. Ms. Markovitz brings approximately 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Ms. Markowitz holds BSc and MSc degrees in Animal Science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. |
